Although I am not one to harp on about the trials and tribulations of public amenities when on holiday the extraordinary toilets at the The Standard hotel are something I cannot refrain from mentioning!

The Standard
Four separate friends on two continents told Mum and I to have a drink at The Standard Hotel-and it certainly did not disappoint. And thanks to Richard I discovered the French 75. Mmmmmmm

Find the Fake
The difference between USA and the UK. One has a 12th century cellarium in situ and one pinched a chapter house from Spain. Can you spot the difference?
Central Park
An early morning, thanks to mild jet lag saw us walking in Central Park at 8.30 on a glorious sunny Saturday morning. No cars in the park on weekends and lots of joggers, walkers and dogs . Busy bustly and so lovely. Hailed a cyclo ridden by Dorien from Moldova and took a tour for hour to all the Central Park highlights. He insisted on pointing out every film and television site even though Mum insisted that he skip this bit. Lots of highlights and lots of pictures . A wonderful morning and so very special to be sharing it with Mum.

Hotel Élysées
Arrived in sunny New York to stay at this gorgeous old school mid town Manhattan hotel . Lovely room and the manager sent a handwritten welcome note with chocolates and champagne! Gotta love it........

Bob Bob's the best
Last night in London had dinner at the fabulous Bob Bob Ricard- a super London supper club with a family connection. I am happy to regale you all with a description of the amazing food. Started with a glass of Pol Roger with Russian Bites - Russian salad, quails egg, herring and truffles and tongue - with a shot of oysters. Then six oysters gratin followed by roast pressed pork with red cabbage with crumbs of black pudding and truffled mash. Then dessert of a trio of creme brûlée - chocolate, lime and galangal and earl grey tea with Tokay . Mum had Dover sole followed by an amazing passion fruit souffle A memorable meal indeed - thanks Richard.....
